Technical Writer

Insignia Technology Services has an immediate opening for a Technical Writer to join our team in the DC area. In this position, you will coordinate content creation across multiple documents continuously with competing deadlines. As a Technical Writer, you will use your skills and experience to perform quality reviews and peer reviews across technical and non technical documents. This position will collaborate with professionals on the team as well as other government resources. 
  • Coordinate content creation across multiple documents continuously with competing deadlines
  • Perform quality reviews and peer reviews across technical and non-technical documents and evaluate document quality based on accuracy, substance, and quality of written content
  • Create narrative content for proposal sections and other assignments from scratch based off of graphics and/or using "SME (Subject Matter Experts) interviews" to author prose and validate it with technical system engineers, architects, and other SMEs
  • Use our style guides and know which documents to apply to which style guide
  • Assist with the development of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Documents to standardize the approach that the team uses to create agendas, meeting minutes, and incrementally create, validate, update, and review document content; integrate these new SOPs with existing company document quality standards and processes
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements
  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Low-Risk Background Clearance National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of technical writing experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in explaining highly technical data and information in simplistic grade school language for end users of complex IT systems and projects or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities  
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience using a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics and scheduling tools or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities  
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in gathering and converting data into a written narrative or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities  
  • Proven writing background required
  • Proven record of high achievement and commitment to quality work
  • Proven record of desire and ability to learn new subjects
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the US
Preferred
Active Low-Risk Background Clearance National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) or equivalent

Work Location
