Network Administrator

9th Way Solutions is looking for a Network Administrator to join our team at the Federal Trade Commission in Washington DC.

The duties of the Network Administrator include the support of LAN, WAN, wireless networks, remote access, VoIP, unified communications (VoIP & VTC), load balancing, and security devices such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, content filters, and secure email gateways. This position also includes supporting  systems and services such as NTP, RSA SecureID, Cisco Prime, Aruba ClearPass, and Solarwinds Orion.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • The Contractor will monitor the network infrastructure as needed to detect problems, ensure optimal performance, and identify opportunities for improvement, establishing performance baselines to provide an objective measure of technical and user-facing performance.
  • The Contractor is responsible for ensuring that network configurations are optimally integrated with other IMSS infrastructure components (e.g. server Infrastructure,
  • data storage, and identity & access) to maximize overall performance.
  • Responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, installing and supporting the company’s computer systems. Design and install LANs, WANs, Internet and Intranet systems and network segments.
  • Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet and intranet systems.
  • Install and maintain network hardware and software.
  • Analyze and isolate issues
  • Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users.
  • Evaluate and modify system’s performance.

  • Determine network and system requirements.
  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.
  • Ensure network connectivity throughout the company’s LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.
  • Design and deploy networks.
  • Perform network address assignment.
  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services.
  • Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers.
  • Maintain network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems.
  • Administer servers, desktop computers, laptop computers, tablet devices, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Network certification preferred but not required
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification a plus
  • ITIL v3 Foundation Level certification a plus
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) a plus
  • CompTIA Network a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 5 years of experience preferred.
